ThinkProgress (@thinkprogress) tweeted on Sat, Dec 08, 2012:
Why emergency contraception should be available to all women over the counter http://t.co/6H6WsWX9
NY Times columnist, Nick Kristoff retweeted the link because he and the folks at ThinkProgress apparently believe EC should be available over-the-counter to minor girls, 17 and younger.
Here, in NYC, we’ve raised serious concerns about the city Education Department decision to dispense EC, Plan B and other birth control medication at 13 high schools without parental involvement or notice (through Connecting Adolescents To Comprehensive Health).
Last year, I supported the HHS decision to restrict EC to prescription-only for minor girls, 17 years old and under. Mayor Bloomberg’s reaction was to denounce Secretary Sebellius.
Unbeknownst to NY parents, he instructed the Departments of Education and Health to launch the CATCH expansion from five to 14 schools. He and his allies are relentless in their desire to completely sexualize our minor children and free them to make their own sexual health decisions.
We may need our own Red Dawn at the polls in 2013.
